Launched in mid 2017 by Microsoft, Seeing AI is a fantastic vision aide that narrates the world around you. Designed for the blind and low vision community, this ongoing research project harnesses the power of AI to open up the visual world and describe nearby people, text and objects. Free to use and available for all iOS devices. Seeing AI only requires access to the Internet to operate. Join us as we teach you how to navigate and use the Seeing AI app along with its many awesome features. With Seeing AI in your pocket, you can rest assured that you'll always have something to help you as you journey out into the world!
In this virtual workshop, we will explore the following features:
- Short text: for reading text as soon as it appears in front of the camera.
- Documents: which provides audio guidance to capture a printed page.
- Products: for identification of products via barcodes.
- People: for identifying people with estimates on their gender, age and emotions.
- And much more!
