Have your say on the Disability Inclusion Action Plan

The Government of Canada is working to develop a Disability Inclusion Action Plan to reduce poverty among Canadians with disabilities, get more persons with disabilities into good quality jobs, and make it easier for persons with disabilities to access federal programs and services. This plan will help the government meet their goal under the Accessible Canada Act of a barrier free Canada by 2040. The Government is currently holding consultations to gather feedback from Canadians with disabilities to support the development of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. Join CNIB’s Public Policy Team for a focus group and discussion about the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. We’ll capture your feedback and use it to inform our comments on the government’s consultation. We will cover different pillars of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan over the course of the two sessions on August 4 & August 11.

If you have been wanting to start exercising but aren’t sure where to begin, join Personal Trainer and Occupational Therapy Assistant Mark Mangabay for our Power Hour Fitness Classes!  This session will include 30 – 45 minutes of exercise to uplift your mood and get you sweating, as well as tips on exercising safely in the home and a Q&A portion for all things fitness!  Set to upbeat music, this week’s workout will include the usual full-body exercises but include attention to fine motor skills. Fine motor skills work the smaller muscles of the hands, fingers, and wrists. We use fine motor skills to type, write, dial, grab etc.; these will be addressed with strengthening, stretching and coordination exercises. The group meets biweekly on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
