Calling all current university students and recent graduates who have attended a postsecondary institution in Ontario, as well as their parents and guardians! Please join us in making postsecondary education more accessible for people with disabilities.

In Ontario, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) has a number of committees that are tasked with reviewing or developing new accessibility standards for Ontario.

The Postsecondary Education (PSE) Standards Development Committee has released their recommendations for proposed accessibility standards for publicly funded colleges and universities in Ontario. The report can be viewed on the Government of Ontario's website. 

Tell us your thoughts and help us ensure the proposed standards include the voices of people who are blind, partially sighted, or Deafblind. Join us for a consultation: August 23, 24 or 26.

Introduction to NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) Screen Reader

NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access)  is a free screen reader which enables people who are blind to independently use the Windows Operating system. It reads the text on the screen in a computerised voice. You can control what is read to you by moving the cursor to the relevant area of text with a mouse or the arrows on your keyboard. NVDA can also convert the text into braille if the computer user owns a device called a “braille display”. Whether you are a JAWS user and considering the switch, or you are considering to start using a screen reader for the first time, this series of workshops will help you understand the software and how to navigate. In Ontario, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) has a number of committees that are tasked with reviewing or developing new accessibility standards for Ontario.

The Postsecondary Education (PSE) Standards Development Committee has released their recommendations for proposed accessibility standards for publicly funded colleges and universities in Ontario. The report can be viewed on the Government of Ontario's website. 

Tell us your thoughts and help us ensure the proposed standards include the voices of people who are blind, partially sighted, or Deafblind. Join us for a consultation: August 23, 24 or 26.

Virtual Bingo

Bingo is fun for all ages. It's a game of chance and there is no skill involved! An opportunity to play bingo in a virtual way! Join us for telephone bingo. As long as you have a bingo card or two at home to use, you will be ready to play. This group runs via teleconference every Thursday 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.
