Culture, Sports and Recreation Programs

CNIB Foundation's culture, sports and recreation programs provide you with opportunities to take part in a variety of creative classes, community-based workshops, physical activities and excursions.

Sailing on the 6ix: A Night of Senses

Shed those winter blues and sail into summer with a taste of the Caribbean!

CNIB is proud to present Sailing on the 6ix – A Night of Senses boat cruise event aboard the Obsession 3. Let’s bring the Caribbean experience to life with the tastes, sounds, and excitement of Toronto’s renowned Caribbean Carnival. Thursday, May 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Avian Feathered Friends Walk – Waterloo

It’s Spring and there’s a Bird Party happening outdoors. Our Avian Feathered Friends are chatting with each other in the Forest Canopy and we want you to join in on the Party! Join our expert birder, Stewart MacDonald, as he takes you on an accessible walk in Waterloo Park and helps you to identify these Wild and Wonderful Bird Calls and Songs.

National Gallery Visit

Ottawa area participants are invited to join us for a guided tour at the National Gallery of Canada. Gallery staff will lead us through exhibits offering descriptions of pieces and special tactile components. Tuesday, June 13 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the National Gallery of Canada.

Peterborough Paint Workshop

Join us for a fun afternoon with Award-winning artist Lynda Todd where she will guide us through an Abstract Paint workshop. You will learn: paint pouring FUNDamentals, 4+ painting styles, paint mixing techniques, creating cells, and meet new friends. Monday, June 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 52.

National Ice Cream Day

June 27 is National Ice Cream Day! Come by the CNIB London Hub and whip yourself up an ice cream sandwich, socialize and play games. Let's celebrate that summer is here.

Niagara Hysterical Historical Walking Tour

Join us for a hysterical historical walking tour in Niagara -On-The-Lake! A bus will pick up participants at a pre-determined location in St. Catharine's. We will travel to Niagara-On-The-Lake, where we will enjoy a walking tour through Historic Olde Town with our very funny local tour guide. After, you will be able to explore a few shops, like the Lavendar Boutique, pick up a delicious lunch pastry from Nina Gelateria & Pastry Shop if you are feeling hungry or even purchase a Christmas Item at Just Christmas. The bus will depart at 2 p.m. back to St. Catherine's.

National "Tell An Old Joke" Day

Calling all comedians – July 24 is "Tell An Old Joke Day." Come armed with your best jokes, and be prepared to vote who made you laugh the most!

Bible Study Group

Make new friends, or deepen existing friendships, find support from your peers, and develop more theological insight about biblical understanding. The Bible Study group meets every Thursday (September to June) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Central Time on Zoom.

Song Bingo Game Night

Come join us on alternating Fridays for our Song Bingo Game Night! All you need to participate is access to phone or Zoom and a bingo card at home or online!  Feel free to play as a family or house! There will be prizes for the first 3 bingo winners of each game and those who correctly name the most tunes! This program is open to participants of all ages. Biweekly on Friday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Pacific Time on Zoom.

CNIB Unbound Book Club

CNIB Unbound is for everyone! Although the group is specifically tailored to people with print disabilities like blindness, anyone who cares about accessible literacy is welcome to join.
