Culture, Sports and Recreation Programs

CNIB Foundation's culture, sports and recreation programs provide you with opportunities to take part in a variety of creative classes, community-based workshops, physical activities and excursions.

Achilles Ottawa - Sunday Running Club

Achilles Ottawa is a national capital-based running club which is creating a community of support for runners who are blind or partially sighted.

SPIRIT Club – an online fitness platform!

To enhance CNIB’s Culture, Sport & Recreation program offerings, we’ve partnered with SPIRIT Club, an online health and fitness platform that provides adapted exercise and healthy lifestyle classes.

SPIRIT Club strives to foster a culture of support and encouragement for all members. Whether you’re experienced with exercise or a total beginner; comfortable in gyms or don’t feel like they are the right fit for you, SPIRIT Club is where you can successfully work toward your fitness goals.

Song Bingo Game Night!

Come join us every other Friday for Song Bingo Game Night! All you need to participate is access to phone or Zoom and a bingo card at home or online!  Each Song Bingo Night will have a different musical theme! Feel free to play as a family or house, you could even make a night of it by dressing up to match the theme! There will be prizes for the first 3 bingo winners and for the person who names the most tunes! This program is designed for participants of all ages. This group runs via Zoom web conference biweekly on Fridays from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

Seated Dance Fitness

Adaptive Dance instructor, Tiffany Tjosvold, will be leading a zoom-based, high energy, seated dance class for participants ages 19 and up. This class is suitable for all fitness levels. This group runs via Zoom web conference every Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

Name That Tune

Calling all music lovers! If you have a passion for music, join us for a game of name that tune. We will play clips of songs and participants will have to name that tune. A variety of music types will be played. This program runs via Zoom web conference on the first and third Thursday of every month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

Old Time Radio

Join us for a trip back into the world of old-time radio with OTR Rewind. Featuring comedies, dramas and a variety of programs from the time when network radio was king and every buddy tuned in for their entertainment. Shows will originate from the Thirties through the eighties. You are welcomed to briefly comment between shows or just sit back and enjoy the vast variety presented by your host Kelly MacDonald. This group runs via Zoom web conference biweekly on Saturday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

Bible Study Group

Join other blind and partially sighted individuals for a discussion of the Bible. Make new friends, or deepen existing friendships, find support from your peers and develop more theological insight and biblical understanding. This group meets via teleconference every Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Central Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

Tuesday Coffee Chat

If you are a morning person, join in on CNIB’s weekly coffee chat group that occurs every Tuesday morning. This is a warm and welcoming group that has been getting together for quite some time. New people are always welcome. We chat about everyday life and get to know each other in the meantime. This group runs via Zoom web conference every Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Atlantic Time. Call in information will be given upon registration

Let's Get Gardening

Love gardening or would love to know more about gardening? Join this group weekly to share ideas, tips and the joy of gardening and listen to guest speakers! The group meets via Zoom web conference every Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
